“How do you take it off the wall and.does it have a battery”

• you pretty much just pull it off the wall--I think there is an indent on the back top that allows your finger to easily fit in. It does not have a battery--but it runs off furnace "c" wire so if you turn off the furnace, the thermostat will turn off.
