Thank you for your inquiry. To help prevent this, make sure to empty the water from the tank and the base of the unit. Additionally, leave the tank somewhere it can air our with the tank cap off. This will help prevent any mold or bacteria growth while not in use. Additionally, you can use a Protec Cleaning Cartridge to kill any germs and bacteria that are in the water. The 99.9% germ reduction comes from the heat of the heating chamber, which will kill 99.9% of the germs and bacteria in the mist of the unit, but may not kill all that may be present in the water tank. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have you cleaned the lower part of the unit? I would check that area and follow the instructions. It would seem unlikely that the tank would have any mold growth since it's filled with fresh water and, as you say, it's been cleaned with a bleach solution. I would suggest emptying the tank when not in use and cleaning it as you have been, refilling it when you are ready to use it again.
