• Dee, You may have received an answer by now, but just in case. I wouldn't add the Vicks directly to the water. There is a spot at the top of the cover where you could put the Vicks. You can also use this to add essential oils so that it is distributed in the air. Hope this was a help.

• No, that will damage the unit. There is a cupped reservoir on top of the unit for Vicks
