Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not quite sure how this would work. I don't think you can set the thermostat heat setting lower than 50F. Maybe you can turn the heat off and just have the thermostat monitor the temperature. Then if it got lower than 40F, it would alert you and you could remotely turn the heat on. Haven't tried that, but I think it may work. You can set your low temperature alert for 40F, but I have mine in the house set for 50F. As long as your thermostat is connected to an active wifi, it should send the alert. I just tested turning the heat off on the thermostat, then setting the low threshold at 70F and got an immediate alert on my phone, since it's only 67 right now. So it appears to work like you would want. Also, you can check the temperature whenever you want to manually via the app on the phone which will show the status of the thermostat settings, indoor temperature and outside air temperature as reported by local weather via a web site.
