A lot of "Internet of Things" devices seem unnecessary to me, but this thermostat ROCKS. It looks really clean and elegant on my wall, and has an easy-to-use touch screen. When I am feeling lazy, I can use Apple HomeKit or the Lyric app to change the thermostats temperature right away, or change from heat to cool, or turn on the fan. The schedules are very easy to manage through the Lyric app, and I can't wait for more HomeKit devices to come out from Honeywell.

This is my first WiFi thermostat and it works as good as the nest for at least half the price.
Installation was quick and easy.
Definitely have to make my next purchase of the light bulbs.

I bought this to replace an older thermostat for our upstairs system. I liked the look, more-standardized features, and lower cost vs. the competition (Nest, ecobee, and a "fancier" Honeywell model). It changes between a full-information screen (when touched) to a simple time-and-temperature view that is quite nice and modern.
Installation was fairly easy with only a few holes needing to be drilled; this device is smaller than you might think (check dimensions) but, in my case, it still covered the footprint of our old thermostat. Hooking up to my WiFi worked quite well but I was surprised to find that it could only connect (technologically) to my 2.4GHz network and not my 5GHz (hence 4, not 5 stars). The latest Honeywell Home app syncs easily and works well but I never had much luck connecting to the Apple Home app on my iPhone. Additionally, my old iPad mini had to use an older version of the Honeywell Lyric app and I eventually decided to just use the app on my phone; I thought there might have been some interference between the versions but that was probably just in my head.
BONUS: When I purchased this unit, it came with a free Amazon Echo Dot AND I got price-matched with a Best Buy competitor! Nice deal!

The Lyric T5 Thermostat doesn't get a lot of press as compared to more expensive Honeywell models or the Nest or Ecobee. As an former Ecobee owner I'd say that i've learned a lot of smart thermostats. This go around I wanted something that gave me the mobile control that is important and something that updated the look of my home while of course maintaining functionality. You can spend 249 dollars for a thermostat but if your a first time buyer just know that the initial "wow factor" diminishes quickly. Most of us keep our homes at the same temp and rarely touch the settings until you have a trip or sever weather change. I decided to save that 100 dollars and go with the T5. It supports HomeKit from Apple as well as Amazon and the new Google Home. It has a nice large led readout which makes viewing the current temp easy.
Install - this was the easiest and most difficult install i've had. I know that sounds silly but here's what happened to me. The T5 requires a "Common Wire" known colloquially as a C-Wire This provides a constant 24 volts of power. I was pleased to see that my furnace had a C-wire attached and proceeded with the installation. There's a simple mounting kit that you affix with 3 screws and then poke your cables into the proper terminals. Everything is well laid out. Once your done you simply push the T5 onto the mounting like a circuit going into a board. When I did this ..I got nothing, Re-checked my cables...everything was solid.
Lucky for me I bought a multimeter and after calling Honeywell support we tested voltage at the furnace which came up good and then at the wall where I found that I lost 90% of my voltage. Something was wrong with my C-Wire. Instantly dread overtook me as I thought about how much an electrician would cost to fix my issue until I remembered that a company named Venstar makes a kit called "Add-A-Wire" that purports to add the necessary missing cable or bypass a broken cable. 27 dollars later I had it on the way. After an extended weekend trip I came home to a very cold home and the Venstar product in the mailbox. My wife and I followed the directions and quickly installed the accessory.
Back the the T5. I held my breath and pushed it onto the mounting plate. Eureka! The T5 powered up and went into setup mode. I quickly went through the simple process and my furnace kicked in and warmed my frigid home. So far the T5 has been working like a champ. I certainly made the right decision and I'm very happy with my purchase. If you don't a c-wire don't worry you can use the Venstar product to get the proper power to the T5 without paying hundreds to an Electrician. Cheers

Good WIFI Thermostat

Good working WIFI thermostat. It is easy to install if you have the correct wiring for it to work. Uses 5 A/C wiring. Fifth wire commonly known as "C" wire. Many customers buy this before checking their current wiring then complain it does not work. The rest of the installation is easy to do.
I have had no problem with the app so far. Although wish there was just a little more information about the functionality of the thermostat and app. I like the geofence option. Nice to come home having the house cooled down when I get there. Have not used it the winter yet for the heat. Have not had any problems checking the temperature from the app. Able to make adjustments to the thermostat easily. The sleep settings is a great feature. Also reminds me that is time for bed. Works well in Apple's Home Kit.
I would rate this a 5 star rating but I have an concern. This thermostat comes on more frequently than my other thermostat (old thermostat basic 7 day programing non-WIFI). But does not stay on as long. New thermostat comes on for about 10 minutes then shuts down. Stays off for 20-25 minutes, depending on how hot it is that day. Old would come on 20-25 minutes then shut down. Then come on 40 or so minutes. Again depending on the how hot. My question is, is it good the the A/C unit to come more frequently? I am thinking the starting and stopping would not be that good for the unit. Or does it make a difference?
Waiting to see if the thermostat is saving me on the energy bill. Hoping it will.
Again, do like this thermostat. Wish I would have bought one sooner.

One of the best Wifi thermostats out there. Looks high tech on the wall and lower cost than most of the more marketed products with same features. The GeoFence option is great, as is monitoring and adjusting when away from home. Verbal commands through Siri also a neat feature. Very easy to install and qualifies for most high efficiency rebates from the gas company. Plan to purchase another for my daughters home.

I was looking at being able to remotely monitor and control my home thermostat for a while and have heard many things about them.
I'm glad I finally took the plunge and performed the upgrade. I was able to install it myself and it works very nicely both directly from the console and through a smartphone.
I would highly recommend it specially for those cold days when you don't want to get up from the cozy sofa! :)

WELL worth the cost, and below the normal for these. It has the features that I need. Its stylish and works exactly how its needed. Connection was extreamly simple. You MUST have a common wire connection or it will not work. the interface is simple and gives you all the info you need.

I bought this thermostat because of a rebate through my local utility. So far I have just used this as a normal thermostat, but it is nice to have the possibility to adjust the temperature from off site. Easy enough to use. Easy to install.

We moved into a new home which had basic thermostats...one temp and either on or off. I saw these on sale for 100.00 over Christmas and purchased two. the app is great and the installation was a snap. You do need a C-wire which supplies power to the thermostat. We later had a tech out to clean our furnace and he commented on how easy the Lyric was to use and how many of the "smart" thermostats are buggy...this one he liked and so do we. I also like the simple and clean deign of this product.

This is an absolutely the best thermostat on the market. It's easy to install and the wifi connection keeps me informed of the outside and inside temp allowing me to adjust the ambient inside air temp at home or away with my phone. There are a lot of nice features like running your system temporarily off the schedule to resume back to the schedule at a specific time that you select. The touchscreen is nice and responsive but, aside from the initial set up, I have used the app to adjust.

We got a new Trane HVAC system for our en suite and decided to upgrade our old Honeywell thermostat to a smart thermostat system but remain with the same brand after a thorough review of several smart thermostats. Works great and love that it picks up outside temp and has geo fencing. Also, really like that I can be in a different state and still control the temp. For what we need this is perfect and have purchased a second one for the main house.

I really wanted to go with a nest but just couldn’t stomach the price. At the end of the day, the lyric T5 competes. Super easy isntall, easy features and best bang for the buck. The geofencing is spot on. The system is sleek and sophisticated. If you are looking to get into the smart thermostat game, save yourself time and money and grab one of these.

This is a wonderful piece of tool that is currently in the market. Bought it a few days ago and had it installed in 10 minutes. it says there should be C wire for installing but as long as you can connect it to the G wire it all works. for $120 you cant beat the price. the set up is simple and you can control the features from your smartphone.

Works great. Easy to use and install. Had to call tech support a couple of times but it got straightened out. Can change settings easily from your phone. Only reason it didn't get a 5 is because I haven't had it long enough to see if it saves money on my electric bill.

I was looking at several Wifi thermostats and this one looks great in our house and didn't cost as much as others I was looking at. The geofence option is great for our family that doesn't come & go on a set schedule. Very easy to install also.
