• does not work from batteries...you need a C-wire.

• The power is run right from the heating unit. No battery. There are many youtube videos and instructions on honeywell to help as well

• Unfortunately not. This unit does not have anywhere to install batteries. The C wire is a requirement for this unit (and many other smart thermostats).
