“Will this work just off my standard router or do I need a Smart Things hub?”

I'm not sure, but device i'm using is standart modem / wifi router provided by Comcast so i'm guessing any wireless device will do it.

A regular router will work. No need for a hub.

This should work fine with a standard router. Mine is connected to my Linksys Velop router.

It will work off your router no hub needed. But you will needa phone or tablet. There is an app that you can use to set up and control
