QuestionHow many watts does this unit need to .operate ? Will be usuing 1000 watt generator to run. Unit will be used in side a van

- Answer The unit runs at 250 watts. The generator will be sufficient to run the unit, but the unit will only operate at its best depending on humidity levels in your area. With high humidity levels the unit will not function properly.

- Answer It will only cool one small room. In a dry climate it will cool about 100 s.f. down 10 to 15 degrees F. 200 s.f. perhaps 5 to 10 degrees.

- Answer Hi, Thanks for your question. This unit is our Portable Evaporative Air Cooler, which differs from our Portable Air Conditioners. Our evaporative air coolers use the natural processes of water evaporation to cool incoming hot air and use a powerful fan to evenly distribute the newly cooled air. The temperature of dry air can drop significantly when liquid water transforms to water vapor through evaporation. As long as your basement has windows or a door for proper cross ventilation, you'll be able to use this unit.

- Answer Hi, Evaporative Air Coolers are not rated by BTUs like Portable Air Conditioners. This unit has 470 CFM airflow and up to 280 square foot cooling capacity. Air Coolers use the natural process of evaporation to cool down air versus air conditioning which requires a compressor and cooling refrigerant. They are more comparable to a fan, and should not be expected to cool like an AC. Air Coolers also work best in dry climates with humidity that is below 50-60%, and it is required that windows be open for cross-ventilation so that the warm and cool air can circulate.
