• You can easily use it without the smart app. I tried it out for half a day without the app. I did eventually sync it with the app because it offers useful scheduling features, but I don't use the Alexa or Google integration. There's a near identical unit from Honeywell that doesn't have Wifi capability that sometimes sells for a little cheaper, so if you don't want those features perhaps take a look at that one. At the time I purchased my unit, the wifi capable and the non wifi capable units were selling for the same price.
