Yes, you can run the unit continuously. The 'filter' (a metal screen like a window screen) will need to be removed and rinsed periodically (for me, once in a month). The unit will trigger the 'clean filter' light on the control panel based on what I assume is some computed run time as my filter wasn't dirty when the light came on. To reset the 'clean filter' light, just press the button adjacent to that indicator light. I don't believe having the 'clean filter' light on will prevent the unit from operating normally. Unless your unit is in a very dusty environment, you should be able to run for at least 30-60 days before the filter really needs rinsing off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So far, the filter has needed to be cleaned only once(I have had the dehumidifier for just shy of a month). Your experience would depend on how dusty your environment is. The manual suggests that you will need to clean the filter about once a month. I would suggest setting a desired humidity level though instead of continuous mode. I have mine set to 50%. That may save you some money on your electrical l bill.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That’s what I do. It shuts itself on and off as it reaches the humidity level you set with the up/down controls. I set it at 50%. I read somewhere that a cellar should be set between 40 to 60%. When I go down into the cellar, part of the time it seems to be on and then other times off, so mine isn’t running continuously. If yours does, you could probably plug it into a timer, so that your machine gets a break for certain hours of the day. The filter just gets washed out under the tap, dried and then reinserted. The directions say to do this every other week if it is in a particularly dusty place. That seems like an awful lot to me. I washed it off only a couple of times a year on my previous dehumidifier.
