The humidifier has a height of 20 inches. I tried pulling out a wheel and it wouldn't come out, but perhaps with more force, it might. However, you only save 1/4 of an inch without the wheels, because the molding for the case has some protrusions which extend downward almost the length of the wheels. Thus the case would be 19 3/4 in height if the wheels were off.
