No. I keep mine plugged in when its not in use. It vacuums my 2500 sf home and probably has plenty of power left. I then plug it back in to charge until I use it again. If it's not being used, it's charging. I use every few days (we have dogs and cats ) I LOVE it and and getting my mom one as well!
