Hi, This is a carpet washer, which dispenses solution, scrubs the carpet clean and extracts the dirty water into a separate tank.It also has a hose and upholstery tools to clean furniture and stairs. Hope this helps! -- John, Hoover Customer Care

My experience is that the water does not heat up that high of a temperature. I just use very hot water and it does the job. I have been using this type of carpet cleaner for over 20 years, water does just fine.
