• You can use an Office 365 subscription on your Chromebook, to open Word documents in the Word app or the Word online version. You can also open and use Word files.

• I don't know about your specific files, but my best guess is, if you can open the files in question, using Google Docs on Chrome browser on any other computer, chances are, this Chromebook will open them as well.
