Thanks for your question! Our HP laptops come with a Multi-format SD media card reader. In order to use the card reader it must be of SD format.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I successfully used an external military CAC reader with a USB connection to my personal computer without any issues until I recently retired. I don't remember how much I paid for the reader, but it wasn't very expensive. I gave it away to one of my coworkers when I retired, so I don't have any specifics on the reader. There was a website called MilitaryCAC or something like that that some useful info on CAC. Since this laptop has USB interfaces, I don't think you would have any problems connecting an external CAC reader to it.
