Got it. I foolishly assumed that a lightning port would be standard considering it cost less than $20 when building a laptop. Every single laptop I have used since 2017 had this capability. Laptop has been returned long before the question was answered here but thanks anyway.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later."Newness" of the CPU has nothing to do with it. What matters is the USB port, and even there, it's not the age, but the capability. If you had bothered to read ALL the supplied info for the unit, under "Features," at the bottom, is the (usually supplied) Manuals & Guides-->Product Datasheet/Brochure. Opening that up, past the halfway mark, you will see Specifications-->External notebook ports-->1 USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate (supports data transfer only and does not support charging or external monitors)." So yes, you will have to return the laptop if you need that feature. Ask the BB salesman if they have what you need at a comparable price and/or specs. One more thing: NOT ALL USB CABLES are the same. Some do, and some don't, support video transmission, so make sure your cable does; test it on some compatible, WORKING hardware, just to be sure.
