“The Keyboard Backlit LED, I know how to adjust the Brightness, Alt+the Brightness keys, but does this keyboard stay on all the time? Mine has not shut down in the 2 days since I've received this Chromebook. I know I can manually turn it off, shame.”

It sounds like the backlight is configured to never turn off. You can change that by going into the computer's BIOS and changing the setting. Instructions to do that are at https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01612362 under the section labeled "The backlight stays on for only a few seconds"
