This laptop does have the Windows 11 Home in S mode operating system. Windows 11 in S mode is a version of Windows 11 that's streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing. You can easily switch it out of S Mode, however once you do, you can not go back to S Mode.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's called "S Mode" because the "S" stands for "secure." What it MEANS is that version of Windows only allows Microsoft Store apps to be installed, and even then, they have to be approved by MS. So, for instance the browsers Firefox is in the Store, but Chrome is not, but neither will run in S Mode. Also, contrary to what HP (and almost everyone) will tell you, it IS possible to switch back to S Mode, with one very important caveat: doing so will also restore the PC to the state it was in when you first took it out of the box, erasing everything else FOREVER. This serves two purposes: (1) if a major problem has occurred in the OS, and no other option will fix it, this is a "last resort"; and (2) If you want to sell or give the computer to someone else, they will not have access to your information.
