Thank you for your question. The 17-cp3005dx laptop has two SODIMM slots for RAM.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'd like to correct my own answer. After further research, it appears that there are two SODIMM slots, with one already occupied (8GB), soldered, but it accepts up to 64GB. Since there is no 54GB RAM stick (64 minus 8), that means in practice it can take an up to an additional 48GB RAM module (yes, there is 48GB RAM in one piece), for a total of 56GB, which is more than enough for almost everybody.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.HP's reply is correct. However, since the RAM is soldered in and can't be altered in any way, it really doesn't matter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Some misinformation needs to be corrected. YES, there are two SO-DIMM memory sockets. One is populated with an 8GB module. NO, the 8GB module is NOT soldered onto the board. It is socketed. Each socket can take up to 32GB of DDR4 3200MHz memory. Dual rank modules are perfectly OK. The processor can handle up to 64GB of DRAM. I replaced the 8GB module with 48GB (16GB plus 32GB in the two sockets. Both modules are 3200MHz, dual-rank, CL22. The system works WAY WAY faster on memory-intensive tasks (example: sorting 2000 JPEG photos by creation date), performing tasks in seconds which literally took HOURS with only 8GB of system DRAM.
