“I haven't had a desk top since the early 2000s. I have used laptops. I need a desk top for office work. At the risk of sounding like a dummy, does this model need a tower? Or is everything all in one here? Thanks in advance.”

No it does not. This model has the computer built in to the monitor. A mouse and keyboard are also included. It is ready to run out of the box.
