You cannot easily change this out for linux like on a Windows PC. But you can change the Debian Linux container for another version of Linux. You will have still jump through some hoops but it can be done. The Debian container works fine however without too much trouble. You can add it by looking in the Advanced Developer Settings.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.While it is possible to swap the OS, it will void the warranty on it and HP does not support changing the OS on the device. The ChromeOS is what this unit was developed for and what HP has verified will run on it. For a different OS, you would need to check the system requirements and make sure this hits those requirements for the one you would like to install.
