It would depend on the type of school work you are hoping to do. In this case it would be fine for Microsoft Office programs and online classes that do not require as much in the way programming or graphics. For any software you want to use, you will want to go to the publisher's site and make sure that the unit you are looking at meets at least the system requirements. Updates can change the requirements which can impact what settings you can use or if you can run the software at all.
