• Yes you can providing you have a method to hook up a sound bar to your cable or satellite box. This is a display monitor so it doesn't not have built in speakers.

• Yes but you will need to have speakers ran directly from your cable box. The monitor does not have built in speakers. So surround sound, sound bar, home theatre system any of those would be a good choice when buying this.
