The xw has a much larger screen thickness and different materials on the casing, that's the biggest thing I've noticed. I'm actually not a fan of the xw as it looks bulky next to the es.

Neither model comes with VESA mounting holes, but the HP xw model can use an adapter that can be purchased for rmounting it. The es model has 2 HDMI ports, the xw model has 2 HDMI ports and a VGA port. I am not sure about the es model being sold overseas or not but whatever the case, it is now sold in the U.S. The xw model is a little over a year in the market but I suspect the es model is much newer since not much information can be found on it online or on HP's web site.
