My best advice is to simply Google your HP Printer brand + the word ink. Example: HP Envy 5560 ink. You'll find pictures and prices of ink from all over the world. It makes the process a little easier and less stressful on you than depending on a Best Buy Agent to help.

This will guarantee you that you'll find the right ink before you go to the store. Many ink companies don't indicate on the box what models it fits. Don't expect that behavior to change in the printer industry.

Your printer should tell you exactly what number of replacement is needed (look where you take the cartridge out) and it tells you the number whether black or color

The only honest answer I would accept is. I hear ya and completely agree with you. I do know some printer do list on the printer what kind of ink to use. Also the box for the ink has a list of what printer it is designed for.

HP decides to be complicated like most manufactures. It's the same with windshield wiper blades, car bulbs, replacement air filters, and batteries. It would be helpful to have a display from the vendor of a compatibility chart (you might get kudos for requesting one or creating your own).

I saw your question & looked on a box of my HP ink..It lists all the compatible printers on the side of the box...
Myself I like to see if a product's made in USA...you just have to be patient & read the entire box & you will eventually 
find what you need.....

There are numerous printers that are compatible and can use 61XL and will not fit on the package.

I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF BEST BUY OR HP - I AM A CUSTOMER JUST LIKE YOU. HP 61 AND 61xl, both black and color ink cartridges, show printer compatibility (clear and visible) on the front of the packaging on the left-hand side. Listings show HP Deskjet - 33 models; HP Envy - 9 models; HP Officejet - 5 models. (TOTAL - 47 models) Use the ink cartridges recommended for your printer to avoid any problems.
