• phone app, tablet app or computer app - one or the other is needed to set up the printer. there is no "touch screen" display like other models, so you will need phone, laptop, desktop, chromebook, tablet.... anything will do as long as it connects to your home network (or the same network as the printer).

• I installed using the HP Smart app I downloaded on my PC. I downloaded the HP Smart app on my iPhone second.
