“I have an HP Office Pro X476dw MFP and it crashed and I can't get HP help on weekends. Does this M479FDW have a seperate paper tray for Legal Paper? I saw where you can print with black ink if a color cartridge is empty. That is a HUGE advantage over mine”

It does not have a tray that will hold legal paper but it does have a fold out tray on the front of the printer where you can feed in legal paper if needed. The fold out tray probably won’t hold more than 10 sheets or so though.

Yes, there is a tray available that can hold legal sized paper. Unfortunately, it will not print with just the black toner is installed.
