It should, because otherwise there is no way for the printer to receive the file. It needs to be connected to your wifi network for it to connect to your phone. Even if it does not connect directly to your phone, and you just email the document to your printer, the printer would still need to be part of your wireless network. I found this link describing how you would use the AirPrint feature on your devices (but I have not done it this way myself): https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02775166 Another alternative is emailing a file from your mobile device to the printer. Your printer will print out a sheet when you set it up that provides an email address for you to send files to for printing. :) And you can reprint this if you need to.
