“How long does the ink cartridge last?”

• The cartridges HO provide with all their printers are only to get you started and will only last a couple of months with below average user printing. If one replaces them with 63XL cartridges you will find they will last an average user in excess of 6 months. This is truly a home and not business printer. Don't be surprised that 2 replacement cartridges cost more than the printers. HP makes its money off of ink Not the printers.

• The OfficeJet 3830 has two ink cartridges, black and tricolor. While your printing needs will determine how long the cartridge lasts for you, the best guidance we have available is the ISO page yield (a standard used for all ink cartridges). For the regular black 63 cartridge, the yield is 190 ISO pages, and the color is at 165 pages.
