“How does the Officejet 3830 differ from the Officejet 4652? Other than styling differences I can't see much difference in specs. Which would be better to have for printing mostly text only docs using wired OTG connect from a smartphone?”

The 4652 is an older model, the OfficeJet 5255 is the current one. They are very similar but the 4650 series (and 5255) add duplex printing and is smaller. Either printer of these three would work well.
