“Does this printer let you select black or color printing like the 3830 and can I print if out of color ink. I’m looking for better print quality but would like to keep this feature.”

• You can select black and white or color for printing. You will need to have all the ink installed to print. Only the models that have two ink cartridges can print in single-cartridge mode.

• I am not sure if you are literally OUT OF color ink, but I have chosen "black only" to print, and it works for that. My guess is that if you keep the empty color cartridge in it and use the "black only" it should work...
