“When you buy this printer new, are the ink cartridges in the box subscription based? I don't want to subscribe to instant ink and would prefer to buy my ink after the cartridges run out.”

You can have the instant ink if you want, but I don't want it either, so there are ink cartiridges included. I don't know how much ink is in the cartridge, so I bought an extra black cartridge
