“What are the purpose of the PCi slots in the back? I went to add some USB-c ports through a PCIe card which fits but there is no motherboard spot for those slots to connect to? Are those slots there just to support other motherboards? Thanks”

• Yes, that's exactly why they're there. They can use the same case for a number of different motherboard/video card combinations.
