• I do not see a protective layer on my 27QS. It does appear to have a matte finish to reduce glare which might be what you're seeing.

• Thank you for reaching out. There is no additional packaging once you remove the monitor from the foam sleeve. This monitor has an anti-glare coating (matte, not reflective) with a brightness of 400 nits and is Eyesafe® Certified; HP Eye Ease. You can change brightness/contrast settings through the monitor controls or through the software.
