“So I have my external hd and my keyboard mouse and mic plugged into the usb drives and when playing a game from the external all of my usbs become disconnected and then reconnect is this a power issue or something else. Computer is brand new”

In this case you may want to contact either HP Support or Geek Squad and ask directly to also make sure it is not a technical issue with the Desktop. There are a few variables depending on the amount of power being drawn from the power supply, but it is worthwhile to eliminate all possibilities and make sure the Desktop is not having other issues.
