“As far as i know the m.2 slot has the 32gb optane drive. And the 2.5 bay has the 512 ssd in it. Can i remove the 32gb optane drive from the m.2 and just install a large 1tb m.2 ssd. Which is gonna be faster than the regular configuration it comes with”

You would need to disable the Optane Memory through the Bios in order to use the M.2 slot with a solid state drive. Refer to the "How do I enable or disable the Intel Optane memory in system BIOS?" on this webpage: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05591811
