I added a 3.5 inch SSD disk drive to the provided bay a few weeks ago and have not had any problems with heat. I'm not sure how I would add another fan to the case if it were needed.

Hello, it is always recommended to keep your electronic devices as cool as possible, traditionally for the GPU and CPU. Please refer to the manufacturer of the internal hard drive you choose to purchase as to whether it requires additional cooling equipment. Thank you for being an HP customer!
