While you can easily go to the Amazon, Facebook sites and check your e-mail, you cannot download the apps while in S Mode as they are third party applications. S Mode is meant to provide a safer experience by restricting applications that can be downloaded content from sites that can be received by the device. Your experience when online can still vary depending on your service provider and internet speeds as well as what modem and router you are using. If you turn off S Mode, you will want to look at the system requirements from the developer's site for any software you would like to download and make sure this meets the requirements of the setting you would like to use. Updates can affect those requirements and that can impact the settings you might use or stop you from using the software at all. Turning off S Mode also lower the security of the device.
