• I had this problem as well ! I checked to see if it was the software and when I went to Geek Squad they saw it was a hardware issue and fixed it for me in a day!

• There was a Windows Update pushed by Microsoft which caused an audio issue on many computers including HP models. If you connect to Windows Update it should download a fix for the audio issue.
