“Can i take my 8GB (4 sticks) ddr3 ram sticks out of my old computer and add to this? If I do, will that make this computer faster perform better? Not real sure what ram does. I mostly edit videos and use photoshop at same time. Thanks!”

More ram will normally give you a quicker start up time and quicker times between programs. Most of the time more ram works but you have to be careful you do not "over clock" your computer. Means more ram than your computer can handle.
