“Does it have a ink pad that has to be replaced after so long? If so can the home user replace it or does it need to be serviced?”

• You can replace it at home and I’ve had it for 2 month so far and a use it quite a lot for school and so far haven’t needed to replace it yet

• It actually doesn't have "ink pads"-it has four ink tanks inside the printer that after about 2 years, will need to be refilled, but that's quite easy to do-HP sells the four bottles (one for each color) and the system is designed to be filled by you, without a mess.
