Clean both of them with a lint-free cloth. Once completed, try to scan again. If you still have the problem, you may need to recalibrate the scanner, especially if the lid is opened sometimes during the scanning operation. Remove the power cord from the printer, then remove the power plug from the electrical wall socket. Wait 15 seconds, then reconnect the cord. Once the printer is powered on, it will go through a self-check. Once the printer is silent, try scanning again. If this does not work, please contact HP Support for further assistance.
