Thank you for the question. The shelf life of Smart Tank ink is 18-24 months (depending on the environment where the printer is used). Occasional printing or dormancy can lead to clogged print heads or hoses which necessitates the need for a cleaning cycle. This can be avoided by printing a page or so every couple of weeks, even remotely.
