Hello and thank you for asking. Any ink jet printer, including the HP Smart Tank Plus 651, can suffer from dry out after about 2 or 3 months. Because ink is a liquid, it will evaporate, leaving dried ink plugs that clog the printhead, thereby preventing it from printing. HP LaserJet printers do not have that problem by design.
