No, the laptop gets pretty hot on your lap (just keep it on a table or buy a lapdesk) -- like any other laptop. It doesn't run any hotter than anything else I've used. The fact is, the air vents are going to blow right into your legs so don't use shorts. It is however, the sexiest laptop I've ever used and love it!

Please try again later.I have read about complaints on how loud the fan is...turns out that I had to uninstall the annoying bloatware (McAfee Live...) which ate up CPU and caused the fan to be on max all of the time. After a restart, the laptop is quiet (ie no major noise from the fan trying to sound like it wants to take off).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you sense a lot of heating issue. There is a problem. I got my fan and heat sink replaced within 30 days of buying the laptop. Post replacement if you still see a heating issue, then HP will tell you to go to BIOS and change the system mode from "Performance" to "Balance". This will solve the heating issue to some extent but not eliminate it completely.
