Hi Jess. This is fine for writing. The HP Stream 11.6 laptop is designed to be the 2nd or 3rd computer in a household. It is designed for surfing the web, streaming videos, movies, music, running MS Office apps (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), email, and social media websites. This should be good for writing.
