The Stream is specifically designed for Video streaming. For online course work, I would not recommend the Stream due to it specifically being intended for light web use, and video surfing. The best bang for the buck option for online schooling is the Silver Fusion. It offers over 30 times the storage, double the memory, and a processor that is about 5 times faster. It also has Bluetooth, a DVD drive, and a larger display. All of that for $339 for the non touchscreen version.
