Harrison, thank you for your question about this HP Victus laptop! The battery is at 50% out of the box and may require calibration. This is done by fully charging it, unplugging it then using it until it goes down to 10%, then having it charge to full. The battery life is dependent on which components are running and what kind of load they have. If the battery life is still unsatisfactory, you can contact Geek Squad or HP Support. Best Buy also has an extended return period for the holiday season if you need to exchange it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are talking about daily usage, battery life always depends on how many programs you run, especially simultaneously. All that extra RAM people like to add requires electricity running through the modules for them to do more than just decorate the motherboard. More intensive use, such as editing video or playing games, forces the CPU and GPU to draw even more power. Wireless connectivity? Brighter screen? Faster screen refresh? All these add up! So if you want the best experience, when doing more than light activity, e.g., reading emails, or shopping, keep the unit plugged in when using.
