It picks up a pretty good amount of background noise but if you're using an app like discord with a noise suppression setting, it works really good.

And the term you're looking for is called a pop-filter, and they never hurt (you will likely have to turn up your gain if you use one). This issue can usually be avoided by not speaking directly into the diaphragm of the mic.
