“Can the i5 processor be upgraded with the i7? Can more ram space be added? I m looking to purchase this for music production. What is the return policy and is this a refurbished unit? Please advise”

you can return this build within 2 weeks, of course processor can be changed and as long as it can handle i5 8400, current motherboard will probably handle many of the i7 processors, and about ram there are 2 slots total one of them is already busy with 8GB card.

This system comes with 2 memory slots for RAM that you can upgrade if 8GB is not enough. You will have to check with Best Buy customer service for their return policy.
